“We have been delighted with the progress our pupils have made during their time with Fresh Minds. Jas has worked with 30 of our most able Year 10s, helping them to develop knowledge and skills that would be hard to fit into a normal academic curriculum.”

Magnus Anderson

Deputy Head (Academic) Leicster Grammar School

“The pupils have enjoyed the process and are better informed and more confident as a result. This has provided a perfect springboard for our Year 10 pupils, and I expect to see more benefits as these pupils move through Year 11 and especially when they reach Sixth Form.”

Deputy Head (Academic) Leicster Grammar School

“Over more than a decade working with Loughborough Grammar School pupils, Daljit has had a transformational effect on the development of dozens of students through her leadership of STEM competitions. She is an expert facilitator who has created the ideal environment in which students can explore their innovative ideas and learn to understand that failure is part of the creative process before these ideas can become reality.”

Duncan Byrne

Former Head Master Loughborough Grammer School

“Daljit manages to harness students’ inner creativity by listening, probing and, most importantly, by giving them the confidence that their ideas are achievable. As a result, she has supported several teams to success in the national TeenTech competition, as well as mentoring the overall winners of the Big Bang Competition in both 2017 and 2019.”

Former Head Master Loughborough Grammer School

“Mrs Kaur has an infectious passion for science that has you wanting to learn about STEM, even when you don’t feel like it. She guided us through finding areas of STEM that interest us and was a constant source of support and inspiration. My experiences gave me both personal skills and STEM skills that were useful in university applications and during my time at university. Even though the project I did doesn’t directly relate to my degree, I mentioned it in just about every interview I had.”

Antoni Krupa

Medicine, Oxford University

“The coding skills I acquired through my project made my GCSE computing so much easier. Having a solid basic understanding of the coding principle took most of the workload off when it mattered most. On a project like this, every week you get the chance to develop team management skills and scientific interest beyond what the school syllabus teaches you. It is invaluable and a weekly commitment means that it does not take a lifetime either.”

Antoni Krupa

Medicine, Oxford University

“Mrs Kaur has an infectious passion for science that has you wanting to learn about STEM, even when you are not feeling like it that day. She guided us through finding areas of STEM that interest us and was a constant source of support and inspiration. I owe a lot to Mrs Kaur. I wasn’t sure I could commit my time to a STEM project, but she convinced me to just give it a go.”

Antoni Krupa

Medicine, Oxford University

“Before I knew it, I was at several national competitions, achieving STEMM awards and gaining confidence to apply for higher education STEM-related courses. I don’t think I would’ve attempted anything like it without her support.”

Antoni Krupa

Medicine, Oxford University

“Mrs Kaur is a fantastic teacher and mentor, which is exemplified by the growing number of students she has inspired and lead to success in STEM related competitions.”

Christopher Brown

Mathematics and Computer Science, Warwick University

“While I was at secondary school, Mrs Kaur helped me to enter many competitions over the years that she taught me. Examples of these are the TeenTech Awards, the Big Bang Fair and the UK Bebras Competition, all of which I have made to the finals thanks to Mrs Kaur. As a direct result of her guidance, I also managed to achieve a Gold CREST Award and Gold Youth STEMM award, which are nationally recognised accreditations for project work and success in the STEM field.”

Christopher Brown

Mathematics and Computer Science, Warwick University

“The work put in by Mrs Kaur has undoubtedly had a lasting impact on both me and my career path. Her teaching has improved my ability to think critically and research effectively, which is demonstrated by the variety of different projects I have worked on. As well as this, she is fantastic at motivating students to work hard and learn new things. For instance, after I finished my exams at school, Mrs Kaur gave me the opportunity to work on a project in electronics and hardware control, where my task was to design, build and program a contactless door access system.”

Christopher Brown

Mathematics and Computer Science, Warwick University

“This project taught me invaluable skills in hardware- software interfacing, practical skills in soldering and lots of theoretical knowledge about RFID systems and circuit board architecture. This is just one of the many examples where Mrs Kaur has gone above and beyond what is required to give her students the best education she can. For these reasons, if you are looking to develop skills like critical thinking, problem-solving and research, I highly recommend the Fresh Minds Course.”

Christopher Brown

Mathematics and Computer Science, Warwick University

“STEM projects allowed me to meet students across the country and see the amazing creations which all of them were capable of, which not only impressed me, but gave me the drive to aim higher. Before, I did not feel like I would ever be considered for a spot at top universities, but the confidence I developed in my time at competitions, due to the skills I cultivated, allowed me to secure a place at Oxford.”

David Bernstein

Medicine, Oxford University

“The number of opportunities STEM projects offered me cannot be understated, I have been to both national and international competitions, had regional and national radio and television interviews, and presenting at the Royal Society of Medicine.”

David Bernstein

Medicine, Oxford University

“Additionally, it gave me access to a kind and very active community that I am incredibly proud to be a part of, and in the past has helped me with unique advice and experiences. Also, due to my time at numerous conventions, I managed to secure work experience in labs and other environments which are often very hard to come by, as I was meeting people in the companies. It was also an honour to be asked to come back in further years and aid with the judging, which I found to be an incredibly rewarding experience.”

David Bernstein

Medicine, Oxford University

“Networking is another skill, which I was not even aware of, which has allowed me to get work experience and career advice at various times which I continue to find to be very helpful. Media skills are something that I had no experience in, it may not seem relevant, but I believe it boosted my interview performance. Weekly lessons are essential for building up skills to become a complete applicant, as they often take time to develop and work on. This format of work aids the development of independent critical thinking and creativity, with helping hands along the way to ensure that you reach your goal.”

David Bernstein

Medicine, Oxford University

“Working with teams and managing deadlines developed my ability to work in a team, and the emotional intelligence gained from relating to others and becoming closer friends with your teammates is a highlight. Skills developed in these sessions are the super-curricula skills universities and employers are looking for, and I would strongly advise anyone interested to get involved as I genuinely believe it has had such a positive outcome for me as a person.”

David Bernstein

Medicine, Oxford University

“Thank you for the workshop, it was very useful. I really appreciate all the advice you gave regarding what to include in a personal statement and all the information about showcasing skills through super curricular activities, work experience, voluntary work etc. The workshop really opened my eyes to the numerous opportunities that are out there for getting to know your subject better (such as extra research through listening to TED Talks and podcasts and reading books). It made me aware that I have to find these opportunities for myself because there is limited focuson this type of thing at school. The advice on connecting with former alumni on LinkedIn to find out what their experiences are has persuaded me to create an account to find out more. One of the most helpful things for me was the PowerPoint that you sent to all of us because it is a really good way to keep a record of everything that we can include in the personal statement, the questions allow us to think about how skills are developed through participating in extracurricular activities, societies and clubs and the sentence starters are a great way of introducing key points.”

Sarah

Nottingham Girls Academy

“The workshop helped to identify the perfect structure and contents of my personal statement as well as key areas within my personal statements that could be tweaked but make a big difference

With their help, I was able to improve my personal statement and get it to a level that ensured my place at top Russell group universities. The websites and documents sent to me were of most use as they allowed me to compare my personal statement to other successful candidates further enabling me to excel in my application.”

Anmoldeep

Hitchin Girl’s School

“The personal statement workshop helped me give my personal statement that extra oomph and the careful guidance allowed me to be confident in the quality of the statement I had written for my subject. The advice about deliberately planning out a range of extracurricular and super curricular activities in Year 12 to make your personal statement stand out extra in Y13 was great, even if I as a Y13 wasn’t able to follow it. The powerpoint to follow alongside the presentation contained excellent personal statement building exercises and prompts, allowing me to get to the core of exactly why I wanted to do my subject and get some solid points down. The exemplars meant that I could also get a feel of the tone and formality used in the statements. My personal statement has now gotten me accepted into several Russell Group universities and I am glad that the workshop helped take it to the next level.”

Anttarpreet

St Pates Grammar School

“My confidence has grown as a result of joining the master classes because I can expand my knowledge on things I’ve already learnt, and since we go through exam question I know how to use the things I learn in different contexts. The master class sessions helped me deepen my knowledge on topics I know well, such as systems architecture. The classes also introduced me to new topics which I hadn’t done in school such as utility software, operating systems and legal, ethical, cultural concerns. The classes have helped me to understand the different types of exam questions and how to answer them. In terms of programming, I would say that the past papers and other resources did directly impact my studies as I haven’t done much programming at school and I don’t have much prior knowledge of it, so the videos really helped me understand everything. I would recommend the master class sessions to other students because you do not only get well-planned weekly live lessons, you also get an abundance of resources to guide you as well. The weekly sessions will help you broaden your knowledge and also give you a head-start on some topics you haven’t covered before yet. The resources help with revising and putting your knowledge to the test.”

“I personally would recommend The CS master class to anyone who is looking to strongly further their knowledge on Computer science in a friendly, interactive environment. Coming into the Class, I struggled with binary addition and shift but the classes have really helped me . Now I know a binary shift to the left multiplies the number by 2, a concept I struggled to grasp beforehand. Also the tasks are challenging but exciting and I have certainly gained and enjoyed my time so far.”

Mark

Lealands High School

Marian

Heathside School

“I would undoubtedly recommend these masterclasses to everyone taking GCSE CS, as I find it to be a unique experience as opposed to my other subjects, in the sense that there is a massive amount of support at the other end of a few clicks. Despite completing numerous programming projects in Year 10, my school only began the programming paper this year, and the October Half-Term sessions, although being a fairly intensive few days, were a massive help with introducing me to the content, which made me much more proficient when coming to learn the content in class. Furthermore, these masterclasses reviewing the entire syllabus are extremely helpful and aid my learning massively, overall making me far more confident as a result, with much evidence shown in past papers. Thank you Mr. Singh!”

Hafsah

Leicester High School

“I have gained more confidence and knowledge on the OCR spec. I have learnt more about coding, e.g. sub programs. I would recommend this to students who are uncertain about anything on the OCR spec.”

Francis

“My experience with the course was a positive one! Mr Singh was a fantastic teacher and I would recommend him to everyone, the quality of the information was immaculate and extremely useful and all resources have been saved to help me prepare for my GCSE, thank you!”

Jack

Felixtowe School

“My confidence has grown massively as a result of the weekly masterclass because of the detail of the content that has been covered. One of the topics was system architecture and it was a topic I struggled on greatly. As a result of the masterclass I feel immensely more confident with this topic and I no longer struggle with it.”

Aryan

Chertsey High School

“The exam questions provided have been very helpful with understanding what could come up in the actual exams and how to answer them. The videos provided with the exam questions are very helpful as they go through what it is you have to put for the questions and talks you through how to answer it. This especially helps when learning the mark scheme and knowing what the examiners are looking for with the exam question. It has impacted my studies by helping me revise for computer science. This was to practice exam questions and learn the mark scheme so you know what to expect in the real exam was really helpful. Furthermore, it has gone over the topics in great detail which helped with understanding them.”

Aryan

“I have learned revision skill and exam technique as well as content during the masterclasses. The programming masterclass explained programming for GCSE very well and I learnt all about the different aspects of programming as well as how to answer programming exam questions.I would strongly recommend the masterclass as it goes over topics in immense detail helping you to understand them better. It is great for people who have already learnt the topic and want revision on it and for people who have not learnt the topic already because the master class with teach the topic very well. Following the masterclass’ advice and attending the sessions it is possible to jump up two grades!”

Aryan

Chertsey High School

“The instructor was really understanding I found the lessons really helpful as someone who struggles in computer science. The lessons have given me more confidence and knowledge and have helped me gain a deeper understanding in the theory aspect of computing.

The resources are very helpful and allow me to go back to the lessons to revise or go over a topic as many times as I choose. It makes revision easier as I can watch a video, go through the presentation, or do some practice questions.”

“Mr Singh was an amazing teacher and listening to him talking showed me how much knowledge he had on this subject. It was an amazing experience to attend the classes and Sir broke down everything into understandable chunks.

The resources he gave us were amazing, and I’m glad I still have access to them, to go back to and learn from. The PowerPoints were amazing. Mr Singh also answered any questions we had regarding this subject, and he made it very enjoyable. Not only did he teach us how to revise for computer science, but he also understood that we have 9 other classes to revise for and told us to manage the time we study. I found this very considerate, as most of the teachers tell students to focus on their subject. It was an incredible experience, and I’m glad I attended.”

Halima

The Gatwick School

“My week for the classes went great, they were amazing. The lessons were amazing, the teacher is very nice, and I got to learn from him. He explains the topics in a really good way, it helped me learn the topics and understand them.

Sadly, I don’t know that much about binary, that is because I had to go somewhere during that lesson, so I missed a lot. I will watch the recording and make sure I understand it. Altogether, my experience with these lessons was superb!”

Luca

“This Christmas Programming Workshop has helped me in a number of ways. First, it has consolidated my understanding of programming concepts and topics such as Arrays and Subroutines which I struggled on and helped me learn lost of new topics which my school hadn’t covered yet.

It has helped me realise that I shouldn’t be too reliant on the school for revision and , as a result it has helped to motivate me for tackling hard programming concepts and start Computer Science revision. Thank you Mr Singh for this brilliant opportunity.”

Lakhan

Pioneer Secondary School

“This Christmas programming workshop has helped me in a variety of different ways. Focusing on topics and consolidating them on day 1 of the course was useful and focusing on the past papers (on day 2) gave an insight as towards what we have to study and it provides extra knowledge towards our future exams. I learned a lot of new topics (which we have not even done in school yet) which will give me a boost compared to other students and i am positive in securing a higher grade. I would most certainly recommend this course as in my opinion, other students would also benefit from it.

The resources were very helpful. I find that the more recourses you provide and we use, the better it is for us which is what you guys have done, also the format/layout of them were outstanding which really helped when learning of them. The tutor was also very helpful, quick to responding key questions, and explaining them very well. I found this workshop very helpful and I hope that there will be more in the future.”

“Consolidation on previous knowledge, learnt so much new knowledge, resources were even better then the ones my school gives me!! Thank you”

Dumebi

Woolwich Polytechnic Girls School

“This workshop has helped me as I have learnt and practised a few new programming techniques. I have also gained a much better insight into what I struggle with the most by doing the RAG rating. The videos by Next Gen Innovators have helped me grasp what points I must write to achieve full marks on certain questions. The points in the videos have consolidated the vague umbrella over a couple of sub-topics.

I would definitely recommend this course to other students, so that they can also secure their knowledge. The resources provided and suggested by Mr Singh are excellent. He himself is a wonderful teacher and has focussed my learning.”

Kartik

Claremont High School

“I believe this masterclass has helped me as it allowed me to consolidate my learning on programming and functions whilst also providing me with resources that I can use outside of the session to revise for computer science. I also learned how to use parameters in coding which i found useful. I believe the tutor was useful as he allowed us to practice what we had learned using exam style questions which further helped me consolidate my learning.”

Adam

Eden Boys School

“It helped me by seeing exactly where I was struggling with the RAG ratings of all papers. I learnt multiple things, including areas of weakness and strength. The videos provided were exceptionally beneficial as they explained everything in great detail. I would certainly recommend this course as it helped me, learning many things that I never even thought about.

The tutor was really engaging, almost to the point that I thought I was actually in the classroom with him. He answered every question, via sli. do and email which was amazing because there were over 70 people and managed it all!”

Mikael

Eden Boys School

“The elements of programming helped as well as the worksheets which were good practice to test my understanding. Today the exam papers helped quite a lot.”

Ayush

Claremont High School

“The Christmas programming workshop was really helpful for me as I was able to learn about some new things, like case statements and how to appropriately answer exam questions to achieve the best grades I possibly can. The 6 hour lessons, even though brutal was made a bit easier with the frequent brakes and large amounts of information broken down into smaller, comprehendible pieces of information that was easier to take in. The resources were slightly hard to access, however, the teacher, Mr. Singh was very helpful in breaking down the information. Overall the lesson was very helpful and I’m sure it will help me with my actual GCSE’s.”

Kevin

The Gatwick School

“This programming workshop has definitely helped me: I really like how the tutor gave lots of advice and resources for revision and past papers. He even had them all in one google drive, so it is easier for students to access. This helped to solidify what I had learnt in school, and also gave me new information, such as how to use do until loops and what switch case loops are. I also learnt a different way to use for loops, and efficient ways to cast variables. Also, I learnt the difference between functions and procedures. I have already recommended the workshops and the masterclasses to several of my friends.”

Shambhavi

Leicester High School

“Our experience with Mandeep so far has been great. He seems to be an expert on Maths. He appreciates, and hence, motivates Zoe. She is happy with his teaching and the way he creates a safe space for her to investigate, to ask questions without fear of being judged. Mandeep responds to her efforts positively and she enjoys learning from him. In their last lesson they finished a topic she hadn’t been taught before in school within the one hour along with the practice required. He also provided the relevant homework.”

Kyriaki (Mother of Year 11 Student)

St James Girls’ School London

“Mandeep tutored me for A level and the tutor was very effective mathematics. We would cover with how he taught me. We set 1 topic every month with each up a WhatsApp group before week consisting of subtopics. the first lesson and from there We would always begin the any help I needed I would just session with any questions from send a message on the group. I last week’s lesson, followed would receive a reply message by answers to the worksheet within hours. Mandeep created questions. Then the majority of a friendly environment where the lesson would be studying it wouldn’t feel like I was going the theory. I was very confident into a lecture. With Mandeep’s in his mathematical ability. I felt help, I achieved an A in A Level it was easy to communicate maths.”

Jagveer (A-level Student)

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Wakefield

“Zakariya loves to tell the family what he is learning in maths. Maths was his favourite subject in his previous school and I am glad that at KES he is continuing to enjoy it. He speaks very highly of you as a maths teacher and is always looking forward to his maths lesson!”

Mother of Year 7 Student

King Edward’s School, Birmingham

“I’ve found the tutoring very helpful. Mandeep has covered topics that I didn’t understand at school to a good level. He explains concepts well. Lessons with him have helped to increase my confidence in maths. We have worked on exam technique and past paper questions which I’ve found to be really useful in preparation for my Maths GCSE exam.”

Ekjyot (Year 11 student)

Edgbaston High School for Girls

“Mandeep had given me GCSE maths tutoring on all topics and specific topics I was weak in. I felt very confident after the lessons as I knew the lessons had been benefiting me as Mandeep gave me work to do and we then pointed out the areas where I was going wrong and he helped me to overcome these errors. He was very helpful even outside of lessons I was able to contact him via WhatsApp if I was unsure of any question and he helped me make sure I understood and have examples with it. I enjoyed attending the lessons as I knew at the end, I had learnt something each week whether it be a new topic I was unsure of or the method on how to do it. He was great, highly recommended!”

Tirath,

Nishkam High School (GCSE)

“We are really happy with Mandeep so far. He has taught the same IB course that my daughter is currently studying. He ensures that she fully understands the topics by starting with the foundational skills which is very helpful. My daughter is very confident with him as her tutor. We are grateful to have the option of being able to access him and ask questions via whatsapp outside of lessons. I particularly like the way he asks questions and leads her to work out questions for herself.”

Mary (Mother of IB Student)

ACS international School, Hillingdon

“Mandeep started tutoring me a few years ago. Straight away I saw a difference in my ability in mathematics, my grades improved and I also felt so much more confident with the topics I used to struggle with. The sessions really helped me gain confidence in maths and I found it very easy to learn as the sessions were fun and easy to understand. Especially with GCSE’s coming up I feel so much better knowing that I can get support after which I will have had a much better understanding of the topics. The online whiteboard that Mandeep uses makes it easy to visualise rather than just listening to someone speaking. Overall it’s a great space to learn that I have really benefitted from.”

Sabby (Year 10 Student)

Bancroft’s Independent School

“Mandeep tutored my son after a disappointing grade in his end of year mocks in year 12. Mandeep was great, he did an initial assessment based off based past paper questions. From this he was able to identify points of weakness which improved my son’s exam technique and overall confidence and understanding.”

Vinesh (Parent of A Level Student)

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School

“Communication with the tutor was brilliant, he was always on hand to answer any questions which was really reassuring. My son looked forward to lessons and always felt like he had made solid progress after each lesson with Mandeep. The lessons were done online and Mandeep was able to annotate his screen and do live solutions/examples which was perfect for my sons method of learning.”

Vinesh (Parent of A Level Student)
